An afternoon house fire, producing heavy smoke damage, forced a Lake City family from its home Monday.
The fire occurred 4:11 p.m. in the Forest Hills subdivision at 166 Pine Drive.
Lake City Fire Department Lt. Dwight Boozer said the fire is being labeled as an “incidental” fire.
According to Lake City Fire Department reports, the fire was on the second floor and involved the home’s floor and some doors.
“It was more smoke damage than anything, I think it burned a table and a shelf,” Boozer said. “They (the family) will not be able to stay there tonight because of the smoke and heat damage.”
No one was injured in the blaze.
The city fire department responded with two engines and two command units, while the county fire department responded with one engine, a quick response unit and a command unit.
Boozer said when the first units arrived there was smoke coming out the windows but there was no visible flames.
“We laid a supply line and advance line down and extinguished the fire in about five minutes,” he said.
After dousing the fire, emergency workers left the scene by 5:13 p.m.
