Mixed results for CHS foes

Nease ranked No. 4, Ridgeview wins first game.

It was a mixed bag for Columbia High’s football opponents last week, with five teams winning and four losing.

Joining Columbia, a

27-21 winner over Buchholz High, with victories in District

5-4A were Nease High


(41-14 over Martin County High) and Ridgeview High (49-8 at Mantanzas High).

Middleburg High lost at Santa Fe High, 28-14.

Ridgeview (1-1) plays at Ponte Vedra High this week, while Middleburg (0-2) travels to Orange Park High. The Raiders (1-0) were off last week.

Nease (2-0), ranked fourth in Class 4A, has an open date.

Fleming Island High, which hosts Columbia this week, improved to 2-0 with a 34-7 home win over Forrest High. The Golden Eagles missed the Class 5A top 10 ranking by one vote.

Terry Parker High

(1-1) beat host Englewood High, 42-13. The Braves host Forrest this week and Columbia on Sept. 26.

Oviedo High dropped to 1-1 with a 35-28 road loss to Hagerty High. The Lions play at Lyman High this week.

Suwannee High lost 57-20 at East Gadsden High to fall to 1-1. The Bulldogs have an open date this week.

Buchholz (0-2) plays at North Marion High this week.

Camden County High (3-0) traveled to Hoover High and demolished the Alabama team, 44-16. Camden is off this week.

" Interesting week of match ups. Bucholtz a team that took columbia to overtime faces off against north marion a team nease beat 30-14. Also a more direct link nease beat fleming island in the spring 21-7 in a half if columiba rolls then maybe this year will be a more interesting match up. If Columbia loses it might be an indication that despite changes coaches the results will stay the same. "
